But the Rocks striker isn’t surprised by how well the team are doing after winning promotion last season via the Ryman Premier playoffs.
The striker attributes the togetherness of the players and a strong dressing room for an impressive August which has seen wins over Bath City and Whitehawk and draws with Weston last weekend as well as Welling United and Poole.
So far, Bognor have scored an impressive 15 goals and he wants that tally to grow over the Bank Holiday weekend.
This Saturday it’s a tough test for Bognor away to East Thurrock United before they play a home game with Eastbourne Borough on Monday – with former manager Jamie Howell returning.
Pearce is pleased by the start made and says the club aren’t in the division just to make up the numbers.
“It’s never been the attitude of our club to go into a season saying that staying up is all we need to do,” said Pearce.
“We’re all ambitious and you can see that by the good start we have made. We’ve put together some good form early on. It doesn’t surprise me that we’re unbeaten.
“We’re a tight-knit dressing room and friends on and off the pitch which really helps,” he added.
“We’re seeing where it takes us. It’s a tough league as everyone knows but we’ve come up with great confidence. It’s an exciting time.”
