Bognor Backed To Dig Themselves Out Of A Hole

Bognor Regis may have slipped into the bottom three of the Vanarama National League South but there is no sense of panic button pushing on the south coast.

After a bright start to the season, the Rocks have taken only the single point from their last six matches.

That is a worry for some fans at Nyewood Lane after their heroic season to win promotion from the Ryman Premier last term.

On Saturday it all went wrong again, going down 2-1 to Hampton & Richmond Borough having gone ahead in the first half.

Although unlucky to take nothing from the game, an alarming fifth defeat in six - paired with results elsewhere - mean Jack Pearce’s side find themselves in the drop zone.

But Bognor have a great chance to get the season up and running - the next three games are against out of form St Albans, and fellow strugglers Concord Rangers and Oxford City.

The Rocks coach Darin Killpartrick told West Sussex Today that they need to be more streetwise if they are to get out of their rut.

He said: “I thought it was a excellent performance by the team.

Football is a cruel game - if you look at the chances, it was quite tight but they capitalised on two gifted goals from us in my opinion.

“They're top of the form guide and we're bottom of the form guide and if you’d come in and watched today you have never have known the difference.”

Killpartrick say it’s time to get smart to get out of the drop zone.

“We need to tighten up on game intelligence and we need to tighten up on how to win a game of football at this level.”
