Bees Opt for Flower Power As Tim Takes Charge At The Hive

Tim Flowers says he can’t wait to get back into football after Barnet announced the former England goalkeeper is to become their new manager.

The Bees parted company with Peter Beadle following Saturday’s 6-0 hammering at Chesterfield.

They didn’t hang around - and former Solihull Moors manager Flowers takes over at The Hive with immediate effect.

He deserved some luck after getting the Macclesfield job in the summer but the club sadly didn’t start the season.

Flowers, 53, knows he has to get results and fast and told the club’s official website he is hoping to make up for lost time.

He said: “I am absolutely delighted. It is a club of rich tradition and I can’t wait to get started.

“It is a community club, who need the supporters back at the heart of it and I intend to bring the success that they deserve. Looking from the outside, it is a Club that needs galvanising and it’ll be my job to do that from the outset.

"Clearly from the outside, there are things that need changing, the results speak for themselves. I still believe we can make a fist of this season but we must act immediately and begin to turn this season around.

"I believe that we have some very good footballers, but they must improve very quickly to make a good go of this season.”

Chairman Tony Kleanthous believes the club have got the right man.

He said: “It is quite obvious that the club has been on a downward spiral since our relegation from the Football League.

“It is time for us to address this decline and make a notable appointment of an experienced and determined manager, who will instil a winning mentality.”
