Barnet Are Back! Brennan’s Bees Secure Title Glory

By Sam Elliott

Barnet have secured a return to the EFL almost ten years to the day since their last National League title triumph.

Dean Brennan’s side have been crowned champions following Saturday’s victory at home to Aldershot Town.

They end their eight year stay with a comprehensive victory over Aldershot. Callum Stead and Mark Shelton both bagged two goals.

The Bees did it in style, celebrating in front of their home fans after an incredible season which saw the club go undefeated at the Hive.

The party arrives a decade after their 2015 success, when Martin Allen guided them up following a tug-of-war with Bristol Rovers.

It’s a landmark moment for the Irish manager, who has often spoke of his ambition to manage in the EFL.

He will now get his opportunity after Barnet finally shook off the challenge of York City, winning the National League without the need for any final day nerves.

Congratulations to the players, staff and supporters of Barnet - your new National League champions!

Elsewhere, Southend United moved into the play-off places with a win at home to Wealdstone. They need a point at Gateshead on the final day to confirm their qualification.

FC Halifax Town already have, beating Braintree Town 1-0 with Adam Senior scoring late on.

It will be an incredible final day down at the bottom.

Dagenham moved out of the bottom four with an incredible 6-1 win over Altrincham. Josh Rees scored a hat-trick.

Wealdstone and Maidenhead United must win on the final day to stay up.

The Magpies threw themselves a lifeline with a 2-0 win at Ebbsfleet United, Shawn McCoulsky and Brendan Kiernan scoring.

Boston United completed their incredible escape - a 2-1 win over Gateshead means they are sure of their place.
