Attendance Record Smashed But Leaders Run Into Trouble

By Sam Elliott

The National League attendance record was obliterated but there was an element of stage fright as the leaders couldn’t put on a show.

An incredible 16,511 were at Notts County but it wasn’t a game to leave them in the edge of their seats.

The 0-0 draw with Yeovil Town means not only is it the first time they have failed to score at home since April 2021.

But also that Wrexham now take over - they were ruthless at home once again.

More than 10,000 saw the Dragons continue their unbeaten home run with a 2-0 victory against Aldershot Town.

A Paul Mullin beauty was doubled by a James Jones goal and that was enough to see then top the table again.

Chesterfield keep the heat on, they won for a fourth game in a row - defeating out-of-form Solihull Moors 2-0 in the live BT Sport game.

Defender Bailey Clements made it safe after Joe Quigley headed the hosts ahead.

The form book was turned upside down at the International Stadium as Gateshead stunned Southend United.

Kamil Conteh, Adam Campbell and Conor Carty goals helped bottom side Heed to a shock 3-1 win.

Barnet at now sixth after Marvin Armstrong’s winner added to Torquay United’s troubles.

Ten man Bromley left Dorking Wanderers with a 3-2 win, while a big game down the bottom saw Maidstone United and Oldham fire blanks, it ended 0-0.

Life after John Askey didn’t start well for York City.

Wealdstone left with a late winner - Jack Cook’s 94th minute goal made it a very happy trip home for the Stones.

Padraig Almond also got a late goal, he preserved a point for Woking at home to Altrincham after Elliot Newby’s opener.

Reece Smith was the Maidenhead United hero, he hit the winning goal at home to Eastleigh.

Scunthorpe United are second from bottom now and their problems continue thanks to Jay Bird and Dagenham, he got the decisive goal in East London.

Rob Harker’s moment of magic was enough for FC Halifax Town at home to Boreham Wood.
