April Arrives With A Blockbuster Bank Holiday Monday!

By Sam Elliott

April is almost here and the final month of the season starts with a blockbuster of a Bank Holiday Monday.

Things are tense at both ends as the clock winds down on the last couple of weeks and for some sides, it’s already win or bust tomorrow.

Even the most optimistic of Oldham Athletic fans fear they fall into the category. Winless in six and four points shy of the play-off places, they really must defeat Altrincham if they’re to find a second wind and extend their season beyond April 20.

The match is live on TNT Sports and kick-offs, like everyone else, at 3pm.

Aldershot Town hope they’re not losing their cool as the warm weather approaches. One point from three games has given them the wobbles and they face a Dorking Wanderers side who can’t afford another defeat if they have any hope of survival.

Gateshead know if they return from AFC Fylde with three points then they’ll have one hand on home Eliminator advantage. The Coasters will be safe if they claim the win.

Solihull Moors will say goodbye to a top five finish if they don’t start winning again. It’s a trip to Wealdstone, who may have games in hand on the sides below them but their form reeks of relegation. One point from a possible 12 has their fans concerned.

Boreham Wood manager Luke Garrard says there’s no hiding place for his experienced players after five straight defeats. He could have done without a trip to Southend United as the club look to escape the bottom four.

Woking have a four point cushion over the bottom four but defeat to Eastleigh on Friday was a wake up call. They’re at Bromley, who need to find some pre play-off consistency.

Like the Cards, Ebbsfleet United will likely need another win - they’re at Dagenham, who showed no mercy to Boreham Wood on part one of the Easter double bill. There will be a morning pitch inspection as York City head to FC Halifax.

The winner of the game between Eastleigh and Maidenhead United will sense safety is very near while Kidderminster Harriers - having played more games than everyone else - know coming home empty handed from champions Chesterfield will give them a mountain to climb.

Relegated Oxford City already look like they’re playing with freedom after their fate was sealed. They’re at Barnet while Hartlepool head to Rochdale with both sides wanting to offer fans hope for next season.
