All The Weekend's North And South Permutations

By Sam Elliott

The situation is crystal clear as we head into what could be Champagne Saturday but what else could be settled?

We could have champions crowned in both divisions this weekend and after they both couldn’t get over the line on Bank Holiday Monday - so will their wait come to an end?

National League South Title talk became insignificant for Yeovil Town at Weymouth after a supporter fell seriously ill during their big game. The game was abandoned as an air ambulance was called but it will take just one more win after Chelmsford City came unstuck at already down Dover Athletic.

Victory for the Glovers at Huish Park against Worthing means they cannot be caught - and the celebrations can begin.

But if the second place Clarets, currently seven points adrift of the leaders, lose at home to Slough Town then Mark Cooper’s men will win it regardless of what happens in Somerset.

It’s not the only matter that could be decided. Maidstone United will confirm a play-off place if they win at in-form Farnborough, as will Braintree Town with three points at Weston-super-Mare. But for both to do it, they need Aveley to not win at Truro City.

Havant & Waterlooville cannot officially be relegated but if Eastbourne Borough win against Weymouth they will go down on Wednesday if they don’t win back to back matches at home to Dartford and Welling United.

Tamworth have waited patiently for their National League North moment, pictured.

The bubbly has been on ice over the Easter weekend, and it will be third time lucky if they take a point at home to Warrington Town on Saturday.

Only Andy Preece’s Chorley can mathematically catch them now - and if they drop points at Buxton the party can start regardless of what happens in the match at the Lamb.

Elsewhere, Brackley Town could firm up something we’ve known for a while - they’re heading for the play-offs. Three points against Boston United will make things safe for the Saints.

Gloucester City will be relegated if they fail to win at home to Chester.

Because of Banbury United’s game in hand, their future can’t be decided officially quite yet. But anything but victory against King’s Lynn all-but ends their short stay in the division.
