A Big Night Of Action Ahead In The National League North

By Tom Feaheny

It could be a defining night in the Vanarama National League North, with several crucial games affecting both the top and bottom of the table.

League leaders Salford City are looking to make it 11 games unbeaten as they face Southport, they go into this game three points clear at the top of the table, facing Kevin Davies's side who have lost their past four, writes Tom Feaheny.

Second-placed Harrogate Town are also away from home taking on Boston United, they know a victory with Salford City losing would see them end tonight top of the table, while Craig Elliott's Pilgrims aim to get back to winning ways at home after losing at the weekend.

The team that gained victory at Jakemans Stadium was Bradford Park Avenue who are back on their travels taking on Brackley Town who lost at home in the league for the first time in over a year, Kevin Wilkin's side can secure third place but they do rely on another result for that to be confirmed tonight.

Kidderminster Harriers are involved in one of two games featuring sides in the top seven places as they travel to face Spennymoor Town, this game takes place at Harrogate Town's CNG Stadium, the Harriers have won their last four games, while Jason Ainsley's side didn't play at the weekend.

The other top seven clash sees Chorley who got into the play-off places at the weekend host Stockport County, Jim Gannon's side are closing in on confirming their top seven spot, while the Magpies still have some work to do but do have games in hand on some of the teams below them.

Martin Gray described the past week as his toughest in management as York City lost away from home and are now a point off the play-off places having played more games, they are on a three match losing run, meanwhile FC United of Manchester lost at home which rarely happens at the weekend they still need a few more points to ensure safety.

Another side who have seen a poor run of form mean they face a battle for a play-off spot is Blyth Spartans who have lost their past six matches, they are currently 10th but have some games in hand, they face a team who are just above the relegation zone in AFC Telford United who are currently two points clear.

And the bottom two face each other in North Ferriby United and Gainsborough Trinity, but the 23 point gap means there is a lot more on the line for the visitors with Lee Sinnott's side knowing this is a must-win game, while the Villagers are looking to end the season on a high.

Blyth Spartans V AFC Telford United
Boston United V Harrogate Town
Brackley Town V Bradford Park Avenue
Chorley V Stockport County
FC United of Manchester V York City
