Worth His Weight In Goals! Evatt So Happy For Hindle

Jack Hindle may have put himself on a strict diet this summer but he gobbled up everything that was served up for him on the opening day.

Barrow’s summer addition was hungry in front of goal as Ian Evatt’s first competitive game in charge ended with a fine 3-0 win over Havant & Waterlooville.

The Bluebirds have already equalled the number of home victories they earned in the last six months of last season inside one day.

Hindle was the two-goal hero and Evatt is thrilled the signing for Colwyn Bay got his teeth into the Hawks.

“Jack has lost 5kg of weight since we came back,” Evatt said. “He’s taking his football very seriously now and is dedicating his life to it.

“He has a knack of scoring goals and confidence wise that will do him the power of good. He took his goals brilliantly and he was a real handful. I'm thrilled for him.”

Evatt spoke of getting the fans on-side quickly and they would have been impressed by the first game showing.

“I’m really pleased for the players," said the new boss. "They have given me everything I have asked for. We had ten debutants out there and they were all superb.

“We were edgy first half but we gains confidence from the goal. That was a key moment. We looked nervous before then.

“We calmed them down at half-time and man-for-man we were excellent.”
