Winfield Lift And The Winning Feeling Boosts The Fleet

It's fair to say it's been a good few days for Ebbsfleet United fans. Not only have they ended their long winless run but the news is that a key players doesn't require surgery.

It has been confirmed that captain Dave Winfield won't have to go under the knife.

But manager Daryl McMahon accounted that he could be back within eight weeks as he continues his rehab.

McMahon said: "He doesn’t need surgery so it’s good news.

"If he needed surgery he’d be out for six months so this had brought it down to eight weeks.

"He’s got four weeks non-weight-bearing so he can do weights and leg weights but not running. He’ll be doing cycling and the rower so as long as he gets through that four-week period OK, he can get back on the grass," McMahon told KentOnline.

"It will feel like a bonus in eight weeks if he’s back. Like anything in these situations, anything can happen, he could still have setbacks etc but it’s the best diagnosis we could have had."

Danny Kedwell's goal gave the Fleet a victory over Boreham Wood and the manager wants that to be the start of their climb up the Vanarama National League table.
