White’s Recovery Is Down To Dressing Room Spirit Says Hess

Dover Athletic manager Andy Hessenthaler wants his players to make the most of the golden period they are currently enjoying to push themselves away for trouble.

The Whites are on their best run of 2018 having taken ten points from their last four games.

On Saturday they moved to within a place of the National League safety line with an incredible victory over AFC Fylde.

Not only did they win it in the last minute, but they secured maximum points against the odds having been a goal and a man down against the talented Coasters.

The scenes as they celebrated the winner has convinced Hessenthaler they now have a tight-knit dressing room ready to stay up.

He said: “I thought we had a goal in us with ten men, I could see us nicking something.

“But I didn’t expect us to go on and win the game. The fact that we did speaks volumes for the players and the moment they are in.

“It was an incredible effort and one that will hopefully carry us through,” he adds.

“There is so much character within the squad and its shining through. We have that ‘don’t know when we are beaten’ mentality now and but we need to keep at it.”
