What’s On Offer Tonight In The FA Trophy?

By Steven Coney

There are a handful of big FA Trophy matches tonight as our clubs look to book their place in the quarter-finals.

Brackley Town, Wealdstone and Leyton Orient are the only clubs definitely through to the last eight but they will find out who will join them tonight.

There’s plenty on offer this evening and one of the more intriguing ties sees Billericay Town welcome Harrogate Town.

Despite playing a level below, many will consider big-spending Billericay as favourites. They’ve lost just once all season in the Bostik Premier and drew 2-2 at Harrogate on Saturday.

Simon Weaver’s side are still in the National League North title race but will have to be at their best in Essex tonight.

Gateshead also drew 2-2 on Saturday at Maidstone United and the two National League clubs go at it again in the north-east.

The Heed won the corresponding League fixture recently but the Stones would love to pick up a big victory following their recent tough League run.

Jim Gannon’s Stockport County welcome Maidenhead United, looking to pick up a National League scalp.

Matty Warburton gave County an early lead on Saturday but Maidenhead forced a replay. Stockport haven’t had much to shout about in recent years so a potential Wembley visit must have everybody excited.

East Thurrock United have arguably been the team of the tournament so far with victories over National League clubs Aldershot Town and Chester.

The Rocks picked up an impressive 1-1 draw at National League North high-flyers Spennymoor Town on Saturday and now welcome the Moors to Essex in what is sure to be a tight contest.

The final replay pits the highest-ranked team left in the competition, Bromley, against the lowest-ranked in Workington.

Bromley needed a Jack Holland goal ten minutes from time to draw in Cumbria on Saturday. The Reds, of the Northern Premier League, will be missing several first-team players and the Ravens will be hoping to take full advantage.

FA Trophy Fixtures (Tuesday, February 6):

Billericay Town v Harrogate Town
Gateshead v Maidstone United
Stockport County v Maidenhead United
East Thurrock United v Spennymoor Town
Bromley v Workington
