What Happened In The National League North On Tuesday?

By Tom Scott

Unbeaten runs were extended and places were traded in the National League North on Tuesday night.

One place where there hasn't been a change however is at the summit where York City remain after four games.

Kallum Griffiths opened the scoring in their 3-0 win over Blyth Spartans - a result that leaves Lee Clark's men at the foot of the table without a point.

Gateshead are becoming the division's draw specialists - a stalemate with Bradford (Park Avenue) their fourth in four.

Aaron Martin ensured Guiseley kept up their impressive start.

The striker is in red-hot form and bagged his fifth and sixth goals of the season as the Lions overcame Spennymoor.

Altrincham were twice pegged back but snatched a win thanks to a superb strike from John Johnston five minutes from time.

Danny Clarke and Danny East kept Alfreton in it but Johnston's stunner proved to be the difference.

Hereford got off to a good start in their first game since Marc Richards' sacking - Rowan Liburd's second-half strike enough to see them beat AFC Telford.

Chester produced another late show to deny Kettering all three points.

Gary Roberts' own goal gave the home side the lead before Akwasi Asante levelled from the spot with almost the last kick of the game.

Southport are up to fourth after completing a comprehensive win away at Farsley Celtic.

The result means the Celts are without a win since the opening day while Southport remain unbeaten.

Kidderminster Harriers were two goals to the good inside 15 minutes through Ash Chambers and Declan Weeks.

But a fightback from Gloucester City saw them claim an incredible win - Joe Hanks' second-half penalty wrapping things up.

Boston United needed a single goal to see off Leamington in a game that saw four red cards in the latter stages.

Elsewhere, Brackley suffered late heartbreak after Lee Ndlovu gave them the lead.

Adam Marriott's 93rd minute penalty nicked a point for King's Lynn Town.

Tuesday's National League North final scores:
Altrincham 3-2 Alfreton
Blyth Spartans 0-3 York
Boston 1-0 Leamington
Brackley 1-1 King's Lynn Town
Farsley Celtic 0-3 Southport
Gateshead 1-1 Bradford (Park Avenue)
Guiseley 3-1 Spennymoor
Hereford 1-0 AFC Telford United
Kettering 1-1 Chester
Kidderminster 2-3 Gloucester
