Weaver Wants Cup Run Along With League Campaign

Harrogate Town boss Simon Weaver says his side have what it takes to both do well in the league and FA Cup.

Town gained a 2-0 win against a resilient Bradford Park Avenue to reach the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup, in an entertaining game that could have gone either way, writes Tom Feaheny.

Town won this match through goals from Joe Leesley and an own goal from Nicky Wroe.

"It was important we got the win, it was a tough game in both matches, we have faced a side full of experience and we are only a young team, so this victory will help, it was difficult at times, that first goal was crucial," Weaver said.

"We stood toe to toe with some very good players, we showed our fitness levels, in the second-half we felt they were coming into the game more, so we got our first goal at the best time."

They will face either Gainsborough Trinity or Leamington in the next round, Weaver knows what to expect from either of them.

"Both teams are tough, both have good managers, we know what to expect, we are just really pleased to know that we are in a position where in a few Saturday we are back playing in the cup."

They next take on Curzon Ashton on Saturday as they look to keep their impressive league form going.

"We have a lot of pride in the clean sheets we have kept, we are tight at the back but we know Curzon like to play it, we are still improving and striving for more."
