Weaver: Town Have A Thirst For More After Going Top

Despite still being unbeaten and notching their sixth win of the season at the weekend, Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver insisted it was only the beginning.

Town claimed another three points at the weekend – beating a tough Havant and Waterlooville side who threatened a shock when they went in front at Wetherby Road.

But goals from Callum Howe, Dom Knowles and Jack Muldoon saw Weaver’s men over the line and he told the club’s YouTube channel of his pride at the character his side showed.

“It’s a good win and we found a way again,” he said. “It wasn’t pretty at times, but we showed up in the second-half.

“We’ve got a great group of lads here and they give it their all in every single game.

“At half-time we were disappointed with our display and second-half when we did pass it, we dictated the tempo of the game and it was during that spell when we took the game.”

Harrogate are the shock package of the season so far and their heroics are making the rest of the league sit up and take note.

They travel to Maidstone next and then face a huge double header against Leyton Orient and Wrexham, but Weaver thinks his side’s run can go on a little longer yet.

“We’re trying hard to keep the players grounded because we have to keep raising the bar,” he said.

“It’s really important to keep momentum and we are determined to do so.

“We know that there’s more to come from us. The players are back in on Tuesday and will continue this mentality.

They’ve got a thirst for more," he added.
