Wafula Wants To Take His Gainsborough Chance

The forward joined the Vanarama National League side from Shaw Lane AFC at the start of pre-season.

Jonathan Wafula knows how big an opportunity he has ahead of his first season with Gainsborough Trinit, writes Tom Feahenyy.

They start the season at home to Leamington tomorrow.

The forward who has played for a number of Evo-Stik sides in recent seasons, is hoping he can impress up front for Dave Freckligton's side.

Wafula told the club's website, he is pleased with how pre-season went.

"It has gone well, I've been given a massive chance and I am hopeful that I can take it, I feel like I have done my best and I am fully prepared."

"I have been working part-time and fitting both in, there is a different intensity and I hope I can show I have got used to it."

With the National League North being such a competitive division, Wafula says it is not a bad thing that the side know they will not be favourites going into certain matches.

"We are seen as underdogs which is a good thing, the manager sees it as that as well, we know we still have pressure but we can go into some of the games knowing that we are not favorites to win."
