Waddock: Shots Suffering Down To Constant Mistakes

Gary Waddock says Aldershot’s impending relegation is mainly down to individual error.

The Shots didn’t slip into the National League South on Saturday despite only managing a draw at Bromley.

But they now have to win all their remaining four games and hope both Dover Athletic and Boreham Wood lose every one of their fixtures.

Realist Waddock knows that isn’t going to happen.

But he says the reason behind their inevitable fate was illustrated perfectly at Hayes Lane during the 2-2 draw.

“To lead the game and not win is a real disappointment after we came back early on from going a goal down,” he said.

“But all you need to do is look at the goals we conceded and the errors which were made.

“It’s not just today. We have let in poor goal after poor goal and the mistakes we make so often have hurt us.

“It’s certainly contributed to where we are in the league.”
