Vanarama's National League South Fan Preview: Dulwich Hamlet

Louise McGetrick is excited about the big kick-off - here, she tackles Dulwich’s season ahead

League sponsors Vanarama have been getting the fans’ perspective ahead of the new season - which kicks off this Saturday

Finally the new season is nearly upon us - tell us what Dulwich fans got to look forward to.
Gavin Rose has made big changes to the squad this summer, with lots of players in and out. There is real ambition being shown from the club, and it’s very exciting.

It was a relatively comfortable first season after promotion. Can the Hamlet now push on and look towards the other half of the National League South table?
I hope so! With the new additions to the squad and being their first season together, I hope they gel quickly and can put together a push for a play-off place

What’s been Gavin’s best bit of business over the past few months?
We’ve signed Connor Hunte on a permanent deal after having him on loan from Billericay last season. I think he’s a great signing, and I can’t wait to see him in action again.

Who will be your one to watch come August 3?
Danny Mills. He’s been on fire in front of goal in pre-season so far, hopefully that will continue throughout the season

In your opinion, who are the other sides to watch out for and could be in the promotion mix?
I’d say Welling and Bath, they were both up there last season, and not forgetting Chelmsford too. Billericay will be pushing again also. It will be an interesting season and I can’t wait!

What ground are you most looking forward to visiting?
I have a personal connection to Weymouth, so it will be really nice to visit again - and also tick the ground off the list. I was delighted when they joined the division coming up from the Southern League.

So what game would you like to win more than any other?
Billericay away - there is definitely a rivalry there, so it would be nice to take the three points back to Champion Hill!

What opposition player would you most like to see in your side - and what makes him so good?
Virgil Van Dijk! In all seriousness, Jamie Reid for Torquay last season was an absolute goal machine. It’s so good to have a forward who will bang in 25-plus a season, an area of the pitch Dulwich struggled with unfortunately last year.

To end, a key question - where do you predict Dulwich will finish next season?
This is a heart and head question. With the new signings and the rabble behind the team, I’d love to say we could reach the play-offs. Come on you pink ‘n’ blues!

Vanarama have recently launched the National League Club Reward scheme to help fans back their club’s budget. Every time a fan takes out a brand new van lease with Vanarama or a brand new car lease with Motorama their club will earn £100 and you will receive £30 cashback.
