Vanarama's National League North fan preview: Darlington

Darlington go-to-man Peter Stockill is in the spotlight and he talks us through the new season through the eyes of a Darlo fan.

League sponsors Vanarama have been getting the fans’ perspective ahead of the new season - which kicks off this Saturday

The new season is very close – but what does it hold for Darlington fans this year?
I hope that we can look forward to a period of stability with an attractive style and improved consistency.

Huge turnover in your squad this summer after Alun Armstrong’s arrival. Is it a long-term project you’re seeing at Darlington or are your primed for instant success?
As a fan owned club, I believe the majority are pragmatic enough not to expect instant success.

What is the one signature you’re delighted to have got over the summer?
I believe the best bit of business over the last few months is the securing of the new management team.

What is the biggest change you’re hoping to see?
I believe that Alun Armstrong will instil the total commitment of the squad to play passionately for the club which in turn will bring more consistency.

Who will get tongues wagging in the stands?
Will Hatfield. He’s a midfield general who will give us some steel and distribution from midfield.

Who are your tip to get be challenging the top places?
The big boys in the form of York and Spennymoor will be in the mix if they can get the passion from their new signings.

What ground will you be desperate to visit?
King’s Lynn as it is a ground I have not been to before and will hopefully be a good get together for some of the (DAFTS) Darlington Away Far Travelling Supporters.

What is one game you cannot lose?
I don't really have a specific game to win but I would appreciate it if former much-loved players don't turn us over at Farsley Celtic and Hereford.

If you had to pick just one – what opposition player would you have from your rivals?
I would quite happily have Reece Styche back with us as he has the passion and guile to win games.

Where will you finish the season?
I am looking for a top-ten finish and if things knit together a sneaky chance of a play-off place. I also wish, like all Darlington fans, for a cup run to ease the financial burden of the owners.
