Torquay Have Given Themselves Hope In Great Escape Attempt

Gary Owers reckons Torquay United have a “good chance” of securing back-to-back wins in their fight against relegation.

The Gulls bounced back from the disappointing defeat to Maidstone with a vital 1-0 win at Leyton Orient on Tuesday night.

Now they face arguably the biggest game of their season on Saturday when they’re on the road again, to fourth-bottom Solihull Moors.

A victory could potentially move Owers’ side to within three points of safety as Torquay look to pull off yet another great escape.

Speaking after the Orient victory, Owers told the club’s website: “It’s an excellent three points.

“We can only approach one game at a time during the course of the run-in. I thought the approach to the game was excellent. The players were really up for it.

“It’s a good time to get a win and it takes us into Saturday – a big game at Solihull, hopefully with a bit of confidence. If we can find that bit of quality and keep that organisation that we showed tonight then I think we’ve got a good chance.

“These lads haven’t given up, I know that for sure because I work with them every day. Everything is to play for.”
