There's No Place Like The Road For Watson And Heed

Gateshead boss Steve Watson said his side love the challenge of playing away and admitted he was ‘thrilled’ with another win on the road.

The Heed overcame Havant and Waterlooville with a single goal to make it four away victories in a row.

And after the game, Watson told the club’s website how his side relish playing away and admitted that his side had to step up their game after the break.

“I’m thrilled with another clean sheet first and foremost against a big, physical side,” he said.

“The first half was disappointing but the second was much better. We were more dominant after the break and we carved them open two or three times.

“These grounds are tough to come to, but the lads seem to enjoy it and we’re thrilled to go back up North with three points.

“The main thing was to try and come away with something today, but three points makes it all the better.”
