There Is Another Eastleigh Free-For-All At The Silverlake

10 months ago By Sam Elliott

Eastleigh are continuing to demonstrate their commitment to filling their ground every week by giving locals the chance to sample the action at no cost.

The Spitfires have launched another idea that they hope will attract first time visitors to the Silverlake Stadium.

Chairman Stewart Donald has announced that every one of the club's season ticket holders will be allowed to bring two guests to their upcoming game with Chester at no charge.

Eastleigh are committed to growing their fan base and the game on September 30th is the latest in a long line of ideas to get their stadium busy.

Next month, in a match with Solihull Moors, the club will open their gates for free.

No cost football is a great incentive says Donald, and he believes more clubs should follow suit and show the local community exactly what is on offer.

"It what we call taster games," said the Spitfires chairman. "If you give something a go and it doesn't cost you, there's every chance you may come back..

"In general the cost of football is too high so we are proud to play a part in keeping the game affordable and we hope for more great crowds for these matches."

Donald hopes by that point the club's Vanarama National League position may have improved.

Richard Hill's team are drawing too many games for his liking and on Saturday they want three points when the club travel to in-form Hartlepool United.
