The Top Scorers: National League's Golden Boot Battle

By Sam Elliott

We’ve now passed the half-way stage in the season so it’s high time we checked in with the Golden Boot candidates.

The National League’s top scorers have been filling their boots - and with the games coming thick and fast there may be more movement to come over the next few days.

On Boxing Day, no fewer than six players found the net twice - including two defenders!

Macauley Bonne’s hot streak has allowed Leyton Orient to pull themselves clear of trouble, and he now leads the way.

Danny Kedwell, of Ebbsfleet, and Maidstone United’s Joe Pigott keep on climbing thanks to recent goal bursts, and Dover’s Ryan Bird is now just one off the top thanks to his best scoring season of his career.

We’ll keep updating the list and bring you the scoring charts from the National League South and North after the New Year’s Day fixtures.
