Sutton Signs New Two-Year Rovers Deal

Defender Ritchie Sutton has today signed a new contract with Tranmere Rovers which will run until the end of the 2018/19 season.

The 31-year-old arrived at Prenton Park during the summer of 2015 from Mansfield Town and has gone on to make more than fifty appearances in a Rovers shirt.

During the 2016/17 season, Sutton waited patiently for his chance in the team and took that opportunity before his season was unfortunately curtailed by an Achilles injury which kept him out of the final month and a half of the campaign.

Prior to his injury, he had shown his value from an attacking point of view having scored 4 goals, including an impressive strike away against Macclesfield Town on New Year’s Day.

Tranmere manager Micky Mellon said: “I’m very pleased that Ritchie is remaining at the Club to help us build on the togetherness of the squad from last season.

“He has won promotion out of this division in the past and so offers great experience to the group, as well as being a very good defender.

“He has also shown himself to be adaptable which is important, working well within a back four and a back three”.
