Struggling Poole Are Desperate For Points, Not Plaudits

Poole Town boss Tom Killick isn’t in the business of sugarcoating things - he knows time is running out for his struggling side.

The Dolphins were beaten 1-0 at play-off hopefuls Braintree Town on Saturday, their third straight defeat.

Things don’t get any easier for Killick’s side as they host second-place Hampton & Richmond Borough on Saturday before travelling to leaders Dartford a week later.

Poole put in a much-improved performance at Braintree but at this stage of the season, results are all that matters - something that isn’t lost on their boss.

Killick told the Daily Echo: “Unfortunately, with where we are in the league, it’s not a situation where we can say we will take the positives and move on because we need the points.

“Good performances don’t always lead to positive results but you hope over a sustained period they will, we just have to keep going.

“In certain aspects, we just have to focus on our performance and hope results will turn. Points are a precious commodity and games are running out.

“In different circumstances, the mood in the camp would have been a lot better but because we were so desperate for the points, it’s another game that has gone by.”
