Stringer Accepting Of Hampton's Late Fightback

It seems that the Clarets would stretch their lead at the top but Hampton and Richmond had other ideas.

Leading through Chris Dickson's early goal, Max Kretzschmar'sclate close range effort after a goalmouth scramble gave Hampton a share of the spoils.

The leveller arrived in time added on - but Stringer accepted that was probably what the home team deserved.

Even though City suffered late anguish, they remain top of the Vanarama National League South.

He said: "I don't think their equaliser was unfair, they kept plugging away and plugging away and got was I think was probably their reward.

"We have chances to wrap it up and get a second but they weren't great chances. We didn't create quite enough.

"I thought overall that we defended well and on another day we leave here with a 1-0 win and a clean sheet but that's the way it goes sometimes.

"I have got to give credit to Hampton because they kept coming at us. They won little free kicks here and there and they kept the pressure high.

"It's a shame we couldn't hold on and get the three points but we can't say we definitely did enough to win it.

"We move on to the weekend now and hopefully we will create a bit more."
