Stand-In Strevens Hopes He Has Proven His Point

Ben Strevens hopes valiant back-to-back performances against two title chasers can convince Eastleigh he’s the right man for the job.

Strevens has been in caretaker charge since Andy Hessenthaler left for Dover last month.

He wants the role permanently and hopes keeping Leyton Orient on Tuesday and Salford City in check will help make up minds.

The 1-1 draw was so almost a win as the Ammies levelled in time added on and although that hurt the interim thinks he has made his point.

“A little bit gutted to only get two points out of six,” Strevens told the club’s website. “But, if we play like that for the rest of the season we’ll pick up points no problem.

“I’ve just said to the boys we’ve taken two points off teams who were both top of the table when we played them and they’re all still absolutely gutted.

“We have to make sure we perform like that against every team we play, not just against the two top teams because they’re easy to get up for.

“I see them every day and I keep saying it, but how hard they train and work I’m thankful everyone else has been able to see that.”
