Stalybridge Truimph in Shoot-Out

....Vanarama National League North clubs North Ferriby United and Stalybridge Celtic do battle at the Eon Visual Media Stadium.

A First Round tie at the Keepmoat Stadium against Sky Bet League One side Doncaster Rovers was the carrot dangled before the sides ahead of kick-off.

But neither side were able to produce much in front of goal, especially in the opening 45 minutes.

The second half brightened up a little and shortly after the restart, Bohan Dixon missed a great chance to give Celtic the lead.

Visiting keeper Tony McMillan saved well from Danny Clarke and Mark Gray saw a header cleared off the line and at the opposite end Adam Nicklin made a fine save from Alex Johnson 10 minutes from time.

Extra-time came and went with little incident, so it was to penalties which went on long into the night, with Ferriby`s Russell Fry firing his effort over the bar to see Stalybridge through 8-7 in the shoot-out.
