Southport Swoop For New Midfielder

Just ahead of Saturday`s disappointing draw with strugglers North Ferriby United, Southport signed midfielder David Lynch for an undisclosed fee from FC Halifax Town.

Signing an eighteen-month contract, Lynch has featured thirteen times in the National League for the Shaymen this term.

He has also previously played for Altrincham and Clitheroe and plays predominantly as a holding midfielder.

Upon signing, Lynch told the club`s official website: “Speaking to manager Kevin Davies it was clear joining Southport was the right decision. I’d heard of the club’s interest on Thursday and planned to sleep on it, but Kevin convinced me straight away. I’m delighted to be here and just looking forward to getting going.”

Davies said: “It’s a big signing for us. He’s from the league above, he’s had success at this level. He’s exactly the type of character that I want in the team. He brings energy and enthusiasm. We know he’ll help players in and around him. He’s a massive influence so I think it’s a huge signing for the club. It’s an exciting time to be here and we’re very pleased to have him”.
