Matchday nine served up an evening of high drama - and another of the unexpected super starters sit on top.

FC Halifax are at the summit after they held firm at winless Chesterfield.

Jamie Allen, Nathan Clarke and Cameron King did the damage as the Shaymen saw out at 3-2 victory to add to the Spireites’ issues.

The knocked Woking off top spot as their old foes from Torquay United came back to bite them again.

A late leveller from debutant Ben Whitfield means the Cards are no longer leaders thanks to Halifax’s superior goal difference.

Maidenhead United were chasing their fifth away win already but couldn’t quite grab it. They came from behind to draw 2-2 at Wrexham - Josh Smile’s wonder goal keeping their unbeaten away run going.

Stockport County continue to impress but AFC Fylde can’t quite get going - Jim Gannon’s team 2-1 winners at Edgeley Park.

Solihull Moors’ three game losing run is finally at an end.

But they couldn’t get the win on the board as they fired blanks at Notts County at Meadow Lane. It ended 0-0 in Nottingham.

Hartlepool United won for a third game in a row and are fast closing in on the top seven. The Pools won 1-0 at Barrow, Ryan Donaldson’s 71st minute winner sets them up brilliantly for the visit of Woking this weekend - live on BT Sport.

Yeovil won for a fourth time. The Glovers are getting it together and sit just outside the play-off pack.

Darren Sarll’s side beat Sutton United 1-0 as Tom Bradbury produced when it mattered.
