Saunders After Centre Back To Complete Squad

Maidstone United boss Jay Saunders has his eyes on two potential centre-back options.

It's been a busy summer for the Stones having made 11 new signings - and now a defender is next on the list.

Maidstone finished 14th in their debut Vanarama National League season last year and with the likes of Stuart Lewis and Jai Reason signed on, they'll hope to improve on that this time around.

But there's still a bit of work to be done for Saunders in the transfer market.

"We need another centre half so we have been speaking to a Football League club about getting one in on a season-long loan," Saunders told the club's website.

"We're working on it, there's one or two options and hopefully by next week I'd like to think we'll have one in.

"I'm probably 80% there with my starting eleven. If you had to get me to name the team now, I'd probably struggle a bit but I've been saying to the boys 'go and claim your shirts' in pre-season."
