Saturday`s Round-Up: Vanarama National League South

By Steve Whitney

Whitehawk are still searching for their first win in the Vanarama National League South in 2017/18.

Saturday`s reduced fixture list due to the Emirates FA Cup saw the Hawks go down to an eleventh defeat in fourteen games, losing 3-0 at the Enclosed Ground to Hungerford Town.

Another boost for the Crusaders new joint bosses Ian Herring and Jon Boardman saw Paul Stonehouse give their side an early6th minute lead that an own goal attributed to Marvin Elliott just 3 minutes later doubled.

Stefan Brown made it 3-0 with only 22 minutes gone on the clock, but fortunately for Hawks` supporters, the visitors failed to add any more to their tally.

Wealdstone will be kicking themselves as they travel back along the M4 after being held to a 0-0 draw at Hardenhuish Park by a Chippenham Town side who played for three quarters of the game with ten-men.

James Guthrie was given a straight red card for a tackle on Ryan Sellars after just 25 minutes.

However, the Stones weren`t able to make the most of their man advantage.

Welling United moved into the top seven after a 2-0 win at the Woodspring Stadium against lowly Weston-super-Mare.

Elijah Phipps opened the scoring after 23 minutes to put the Wings in front.

And 10 minutes later, Joe Healy doubled their advantage – and one they held on to.

Hemel Hempstead Town moved up to eighth after a 2-0 win at Priory Lane against Eastbourne Borough.

A fine left-footed strike from Charlie Sheringham gave the Tudors an 8th minute lead.

And a powerful 25-yard effort from new signing Scott Shulton doubled their advantage in first half injury-time.
