Rooney Is Bound For Barrow - And Goals Are Expected Of Him!

John Rooney is Ian Evatt’s latest signing at Barrow - and he expects him to bring goals to the party.

The former Wrexham and Chester midfielder, the brother of ex-England captain Wayne, has agreed terms at Holleran Street.

Barrow sense improvement next season after just escaping the drop in April on the final day.

Evatt has been busy since his arrival. Last week he signed striker Jacob Bylth and attacking midfielder Josh Kay.

The new boss is excited about what his new man brings and says Rooney’s quality can help turn the corner.

“He's scored one in four at this level and he's proven,” said Evatt.

“He's only 27 and he's a proven goal-scorer from midfield at this level.

“It's important that we fill the squad with goals and with quality.”

Evatt is the subject of our next special summer feature - keep your eyes on the website for his story.
