Rocks Bring In Cayman Island Winger

Bognor Regis Town have announced the signing of Anthony Nelson, a 20-year-old wide player from the Cayman Islands.

Nelson has been training with the squad and his international clearance certificate has now been received, although 20 minutes too late to be registered in time for Saturday`s game.

He will, however, be available for this weekend's match at Nyewood Lane against Truro City.

Nelson was brought up in the UK but moved to the USA several years ago to study.

He has been playing for Valparaiso University in the top division of the US Colleges League.

Prior to moving to the States, Nelson attended the prestigious Shrewsbury School, recognised as one of the top football playing schools in the UK.

In his two years playing for the first XI he scored 61 goals in forty-five appearances. This attracted the attention of Shrewsbury Town where he spent some time playing for their junior sides.

He has also spent time earlier this season on trial at Cheltenham Town.

Nelson's family are from the Cayman Islands, and he was called up to play in the under-20s World Cup qualifying matches in 2017.

He played five times, scoring 3 goals.
