Racecourse Cauldron Doesn't Faze Eastleigh Boss Strevens

Ben Strevens says he would ideally not want to be facing Wrexham in this evening's play-off eliminator but maintained his side have every chance.

A bumper crowd is expected at the Racecourse Ground this evening and you could forgive Wrexham fans for thinking it could be a formality.

And with the best home record in the league, and two win against the Spitfires already this season - who could blame them?

But with one of the best away records in the division, Ben Strevens is adamant that his side can head to North Wales full of beans.

“The Leyton Orient game [3-2 defeat away] was at the forefront of my mind," he told BBC Radio Solent. "Orient’s fans probably got them over the line that night.

“But if I take away being manager and put myself in the players’ shoes, I’d want to go and play at Wrexham in front of an 8,000-plus crowd.

"We’ve been to places like Chesterfield and won and we’ve got experienced lads within the group who’ve played in front of big crowds.

"They won’t be overawed - If we go there and play as well as we can, we can silence them.”

The game will be live on BT Sport as both clubs look to progress for a date with Salford City this Sunday.
