Play-Off Hopefuls Clash On Halloween Night

By David Richardson

Sixth-placed Chorley host seventh-placed Tamworth tonight as both sides look to keep in touch with the top five of the Vanarama National League North.

The visitors won late at York City on Saturday and will aim for consecutive away wins for the first time this season.

Chorley are hoping to bounce back from suffering a narrow defeat at Spennymoor Town which brought to an end their three-game winning run.

Tamworth sit a point behind their hosts and manager Andy Morrell wants to continue surprising people.

“When we’ve been pushed into a corner we’ve come out swinging a couple of times this season,” he said.

“A lot of people have been calling us out on our form but to go to York and win is a huge credit to the players.

“I think some of them have let themselves down in recent weeks but they’ve turned the tables and deserve a big pat on the back.”

Chorley manager Matt Jansen added: "We've been in fantastic form and we could have got something more on Saturday. We did enough to win it and put the game to bed.

"We'll dust ourselves down. We're not going to be too disheartened, we'll pick ourselves up against Tamworth and hopefully get a result against them."
