Pigott Makes Permanent Stones Move

Joe Pigott has signed a deal with his home-town club Maidstone United for the 2017/18 season.

The striker, who joined the Stones on loan from Cambridge United at the end of January, had attracted interest from clubs in the Football League but wanted to return to Maidstone after talks with manager Jay Saunders.

Pigott told the Maidstone United`s official website: “I am really pleased to be back, I loved my time here when I came on loan. Jay spoke to me, we were keen to get something done and I am really excited for next season.

“The run the team went on to get out of the position we were in when I joined was pretty amazing and hopefully we can carry on that momentum next season. Who knows what we can achieve.

“We’ve got a really good selection of strikers that will be a threat to any team and I am looking forward to playing alongside the lads again.”

Club chief executive Bill Williams added: “What a great bit of business this has been by Jay and I was delighted to sign the paperwork on his behalf today. This is the third member of the strike force that he wanted to sign for this coming season.

“Personally, I think Jay and the club have been very fortunate in signing three such talented players and I look forward to them reaching their full potential with us here at Maidstone United”.
