Pennock Salutes Barrow Win But Calls For Focus

By Tom Feaheny

Barrow boss Ady Pennock called for his side not to get carried away despite leaving the relegation zone.

A 1-0 win at Guiseley means their status in the National League is in their hands now with just over a week of the season to go, writes Tom Feaheny.

“I’ve got to say it was a complete team performance, from the back to the front, we worked hard and got a deserved win," Pennock said.

“All the players have come off tired, the work rate was impressive and something I demanded and got.

“That was for the fan base, they came here in good number and were so loud throughout.”

Pennock says all attention has to be on Aldershot Town now.

“We can either look at this result and reflect on it and then we may not be out of the relegation places on Saturday night or we on Thursday fully focus on the next game and try to ensure our status.

“The preparation for that game is absolutely key, full focus is on that already for everyone.

“We are taking on a side who are fighting to go up, a tough game but again we know sides have gone there and won and we have to believe we can as well.”

Pennock said that while they did celebrate the win, it was also muted out of respect to the now relegated Guiseley.

“They have gone down and they will be feeling terrible, you feel for them, no one wants to be relegated, we could see how much it hurt them.

“That feeling is something we really want to avoid and if we can do so, it will be a great achievement for the side."
