New Saturday Night Vanarama National League Highlights Show Launches

By Oliver Osborn

BT Sport will be broadcasting the Vanarama National League Highlights Show in a brand new Saturday evening slot during the 2019/20 season.

A panel of National League experts will join presenter Matt Smith each week to review the action from across the fifth tier.

The Highlights Show will regularly take place after BT Sport’s live coverage of the Vanarama National League, which is in a new scheduled time of 5.20pm on Saturdays.

The brand new series of the half hour round-up gets underway this weekend from Stockport County’s Edgeley Park at 7.30pm on BT Sport 1.

Brian Barwick, Chairman of The National League, said: “BT Sport has produced magnificent coverage of the Vanarama National League during the past four seasons.

“This ground-breaking investment into the Highlights Show from our broadcast partner demonstrates the flourishing relationship our two organisations share together.

“The amount of time and effort which goes into their production is evident in the sharp product offered to the viewer at home.

“A Saturday evening slot is wonderful news for all involved with The National League and creates further opportunity to attract new audiences”.

Speaking at the time they extended their deal with The National League in 2018, Simon Green, Head of BT Sport said: “BT Sport is proud to continue our support for the pinnacle of English football’s non-League game.

"We look forward to bringing our viewers the many storylines that enrich this League’s narrative and which features some of English football’s most well-known clubs.

"Additionally over the past few years our student initiative has underlined our commitment to non-League football.”
