New Boss Cox: I Know The Size Of The Task Ahead Of Me

Paul Cox has spoken about the reasons why he chose Guiseley and believes the club are destined to be a force in the future.

After leaving Barrow two weeks ago it has taken him next to no time to find a few position.

Linked with jobs elsewhere, he decided Guiseley was the one for him and as much as it is a coup to get a former title winning manager to the club Cox isn’t scared of the challenge ahead of him.

“It’s exciting, it’s a different kind of excitement it a lot of ways,” said the new boss after being confirmed as the man to succeed Adam Lockwood.

“Football is evolving at this level. There is scope for the smaller boys so to speak to get in on the act and do well.

“I know that it could well get worse before it gets better, that’s just a fact of life but it’s the different type of challenge that’s in front of me that actually excites.

“There is a lot going on behind the scenes at the club and I think in the future this could be a club that is one to look out for.”

Cox’s first game is this Saturday afternoon, and a home match with Eastleigh.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting the supporters,” Cox declared. “I had a great rapport with the Barrow fans and it’s important to me that I have that same bond with the people at Guiseley as well.

“I could have picked an easier first game of course but I hope it will be the start of something special.”
