Much-Travelled Keeper Checks In At York

York City have signed experienced former Bradford Park Avenue goalkeeper Jon Worsnop.

The 34-year-old helped the West Yorkshire outfit avoid relegation from National League North last season.

Prior to that he had plenty of National League experience for the likes of Chester FC and Alfreton Town, totalling over a century of games.

Worsnop also includes earlier spells at Chester City, Aberystwyth Town, Droylsden, Leigh Genesis, Guiseley AFC, Droylsden and FC United of Manchester, having started out at home-town club Bradford City.

He now competes with former Watford shot-stopper Luke Simpson for a starting place at Bootham Crescent.

Worsnop said: "York's a huge club, I'm a Yorkshireman, I've been to the ground as a kid, I've played at the ground as I was coming through the ranks at Bradford City, and when the opportunity came to sign for a club like York it was a no-brainer".
