Morley Wants To Move On And Improve Next Year

Bernard Morley is keen to take the positives from Chester's season despite falling short of their goals.

Joint-boss Morley arrived at the Deva Stadium with Anthony Johnson in the summer after the pair left Salford City.

The aim was to win the league title but after a rollercoaster campaign, the best the Blues can hope for is an eighth-placed finish.

"Me and Jonno are winners and if we could have got into the play-offs that would have been everything," he told the Chester Standard.

"In terms of the bigger picture we have competed. But me and Jonno thought we could win the league when we came in because that's just who we are.

"The reality is that we haven't and now we try and improve next season."

He added, "If an analyst was to break our season down and put forward mitigating circumstances as to why it has been a stop/start season then it's all there.

"But we have got ourselves in good positions where we could have pushed on and we've not done it."
