Moors Want To Make It A Great Start To The FA Cup Weekend

Solihull Moors kick-off the FA Cup programme on Friday night and they see no reason why they can’t fuel a wonderful weekend for National League club.

The Moors get things underway live on BBC Two when they face Blackpool hoping to start days of big upsets.

It goes without saying that the League One club - the 1953 winners of course - are big favourites.

But Tim Flowers’ team have form on their side having lost just once since the start of September.

The Seasiders could be sailing in choppy waters with rain and wind expected to join the TV cameras at Damson Park.

Flowers hopes the stage is set for an FA Cup classic and says his team have the spirit to do something special.

“Yes, it would be a big surprise if we managed to pull something off,” said the former England international.

“It’s a free-hit for us I suppose. They’re a strong side in their division and will be expected to progress.

“Our ground isn’t a particularly hospitable place for teams to come in terms of on the field of play. Off the field, it’s a fantastic place to come and watch football.

“We want to make it as difficult as we can for Blackpool, so we’ll be giving it a real go.”
