Mellon Wants His Rovers Fighting On All Fronts

Micky Mellon insisted the FA Cup will not come second to repairing Tranmere Rovers' opening to the Vanarama National League season.

Tranmere have started their recovery from an underwhelming first two month of the campaign, taking seven points from their last three games.

But Mellon and his players won't be putting all their eggs in one basket.

The manager says there isn't going to be any let up when the travel to FC Halifax in a divisional 4QR encounter at the Shay Stadium tomorrow.

Mellon know progress and improving their league form can go hand in hand and wants his side battling on both fronts.

"We don't prioritise any game over the other, we want to win every game we go into so the priority is always the next one," the Prenton Park boss said at his media briefing.

"We're prepared and we'll go there looking to continue the good things we've been doing and get a good result.

"The fans enjoy it and it always has a special place in the football calendar.

"As a player, we got through to the quarter finals here at Tranmere which was very, very special.

"As a coach, we got through to the same stage with Barnsley, so I've had some good times and got through to the latter stages in the competition and enjoyed the spotlight.

"In a good career of 15 years, you only play in 15 FA Cups so you must embrace it, enjoy it and get as much history and memories out of it as you can."
