Maybe It’s Time For New Faces, Ponders Askey

Macclesfield Town manger John Askey isn’t concerned about their recent downturn in fortunes.

The Silkmen have gone down in last two Vanarama National League matches after topping the table earlier this month.

Loses at Dagenham and at home to Eastleigh on Saturday now represents a test in character for Askey’s players.

But he says the time is nearing to add some new faces to his squad.

Askey said: “We didn’t play badly at all on Saturday. We have made a few mistakes but overall it wasn’t a bad day for us in terms of how we played.

“We are in a little period at the moment but there’s enough character in the dressing room.

“I think maybe the time is nearing to bring some new blood in so that we can try and move forward with things.

“We’ve got a lot to play for and won’t overreact to a set-back or two along the way.”
