Magpies Can’t Always Turn On The Style Says Vermiglio

Chorley boss Jamie Vermiglio knew his side were nowhere near as good this weekend as they were at FC United on Boxing Day.

But he was just as happy as the National League North title chasers won 1-0 at Curzon Ashton.

The Magpies go to within a point of leaders Bradford PA after following up their conclusive 4-1 festive victory with a more robust display in greater Manchester.

“We weren’t fantastic today,” said the manager on the club’s video service straight after the narrow win.

“But once we got our goal it was all about being resilient and we were - it’s an important three points for us.

“On the ball we didn’t do too much in the second half but defensively I thought we were excellent.

“Sometimes you have got to go away from home and grind out a result and we managed to do that.

“Curzon are a good side and I thought they played really well but we managed to limit them to a few chances.

“We have missed out on a clear sheet for the past four or five games so it’s great to get one and really good to get two excellent away wins in such a short space of time.”
