Lock Hails 'New Era' At Magpies As They Look To Pull Clear

They say a week is a long time in football - an old cliché that certainly fits Maidenhead United as they look to continue their charge to safety.

As January ended, the Magpies were only a point from safety with a reenergised Chesterfield breathing down their necks.

But since then they've picked up two wins in the space of seven days to give themselves a three point cushion from the danger-zone.

Assistant boss Sam Lock believes they can give anyone in the league a game at the moment.

"Gone are the days of losing 6-0 and 7-0," he told the Maidenhead Advertiser.

"It was embarrassing and it hurt everyone. But they’re gone. We’re now in a new era in 2019 when we know we can compete with any side in this division.

"Six or seven weeks ago we asked for them to show us they want to stay in the league, to show a bit of fight.

"They're showing they want to stay in the National League at the moment. That's our aim and we'll look to pull away and get as many points as we can to make sure we're here next year."

This weekend presents the perfect opportunity to put Lock's words into action as fellow strugglers Dover visit York Road.
