Limbrick Won't Use Stones' 3G Pitch As An Easy Excuse

By David Richardson

Woking manager Anthony Limbrick is not prepared to use Maidstone United's 3G pitch as an excuse tomorrow afternoon and reckons that the surface will suit his side.

The Cards head to the Gallagher Stadium tomorrow in search of another three points on the road following last week's excellent 3-1 win at Macclesfield Town.

They face a Maidstone side currently 19th in the table and are struggling for goals says manager Jay Saunders.

Limbrick has guided his young Woking team to four wins and after achieving their first away victory of the season a week ago, he fancies their chances on Maidstone's artificial pitch.

“For a team like ours who pass the ball and move and have good energy, I think it’s a positive playing on that 3G pitch on Saturday," he told Get Surrey. “I don’t see it being a problem for us. We have players that suit playing on a surface like that, so if it’s going to suit anyone it will definitely be us.

“There definitely won’t be any excuses from us going into that environment.

“It is different – the ball plays differently on the 3G – but I think players are adaptable these days, plenty have now played on surfaces like that or trained on it.

“I just don’t see any excuses from us.”
