Leaders Dover Not Getting Carried Away

By David Richardson

There's no signs of Vanarama National League table toppers Dover Athletic getting ahead of themselves.

The Whites moved one point clear at the top of the division with a 2-0 home win over Eastleigh.

Goals from Tranmere loanee James Alabi and Connor Essam is either half extended their unbeaten league run to nine games.

First team coach Mark Newson told the club's website: "It was always going to be a tough game. They've got some good, experienced ex-League players. I thought we dealt with them quite well.

"The boys have got their feet on the ground. They know there's a long way to go. We've got some good games coming up - Dagenham and Orient are our next two. So we know it'll be tough to stay there.

"They're starting to adjust to it. It was a professional performance, particularly in the second half.

"We're top, yes, but it's very tight up there and one win or one less can put you down four or five places."
