Late Silkmen Signing Helps Earn Great Opening Day Win

Macclesfield Town announced the late loan signing of defender Adam Yates from SkyBet League Two side Port Vale.

The experienced 34-year-old right-back agreed to an initial one-month loan deal with the Silkmen and went straight into John Askey’s side that won the season opener 2-0 at Wrexham.

Yates will bring more experience to the Silkmen defence. He has over 300 League appearances to his name, with the majority coming for Vale in Leagues One and Two.
A graduate of the Crewe Alexandra academy, Yates had spells with Halifax Town, Morecambe and Burton Albion before arriving at Vale Park in the summer of 2009.

He has been a regular in the Vale squad since but suffered an injury which kept him out of the 2016/17 campaign.

Yates, stepped up his return from injury in pre-season and has featured throughout the summer for Port Vale.

His performances were rewarded with a new one-year deal and he has linked-up with the Silkmen in a bid to get more minutes under his belt.
